Thoughts On Dart Barrel Shape
Whilst watching the premier league of darts on Sky recently. I saw Kim Huybrechts miss out on a few 180's in my opinion because of the shape of his dart barrel. He would get the first two darts in the treble bed and the third would have gone in but has slid off the barrel of the second dart and below the treble wire. Peter Wrights darts are tapered at the end and I personally think it gives a player more chance of getting three darts in in those situations rather than the more square ended barrel Huybrechts uses. I am not sure why more players do not go to the tapered end of the barrel type. They can be made the same weight with the same balance point so they would not be that different to throw. Of course another solution is to just use longer points which creates the same effect for grouping and seems to be one some other players do with those shaped barrels.
Soft Tip Cash Tournament 19/4/15
This is the first of this type of tournament I have seen advertised in NZ. I actually think the Region 2 team playoffs, men and ladies, is being played that day. I wonder if the organiser realises that. He is missing out and having about 50 of Auckland's top players competing. Maybe he doesn't care. I have to play in West City playoff to select 8 for the Region playoff this Thursday. If I do not make it to the Region playoff I will go and play in this.
